2013 IRVINE MOST INSPIRATIONAL WALKER
On September 25, 2009, Laura woke up with numbness on the entire right side of her body. Four months later, she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Laura was 42 years old. The last four years have been a roller coaster ride for her balancing work and living with MS has been challenging. Laura has constant foot pain, which reminds her daily of the disease.
Laura participates in Walk MS every year because she wants to do something for everyone who has been diagnosed with MS. She also wants to bring awareness to this disease. This year, Laura’s Walk MS team, Team God’s Daughter, raised $3,560, and Laura was voted Most Inspirational Walker at the Irvine walk.
Having MS has given Laura a deeper understanding and compassion for those living with a chronic disease, especially those whose symptoms are invisible, as hers are. The National MS Society has helped Laura through her journey in many ways, including providing classes for the newly diagnosed, support groups, seminars and educational materials.
Thank you for walking and helping to keep people like Laura moving.
