2011 Most Inspirational Walkers

Kathie Currie - Orange County

Kathy participated in the 2011 Orange County Walk MS with Team Currie. After the event, we put out a plea that we needed volunteers for the San Diego and Carlsbad walks and Kathy and her husband did not hesitate to offer a hand.

After volunteering at the NTC event, they heard we needed help at LEGOLAND^® and again, without hesitation, they offered to help. Kathy not only Walks and fundraises, she and her husband went above and beyond to help us when we needed it most.

Karen Cooper - San Diego/Carlsbad

Karen has been the driving force behind the Water Walk and captains the Water Walkers team, which celebrated its 14th anniversary in 2011. The Water Walk takes place the weekend before Walk MS at the Wave House Athletic Club, where people living with MS get to experience their own special walk in the pool!

Karen works tirelessly to get raffle prizes donated, recruit team members, recruit volunteers from SDSU’s football and women’s soccer teams and even bakes cookies for the event. She is a tireless supporter of the National MS Society and is very deserving of this award.
